Super Secret Styling Mission – September..

For the Style Seeking Girl is pleased announce a style/fashion/beauty challenge. The Top Secret Styling Mission – I have always been slightly obsessed with thoughts of secret agents or missions -brought on by my love for books, shows and movies about them {real or not}. When thinking of how I could revamp my initial challenge idea – granted that I wanted to do something that would make myself take leaps with my own choices- I decided that creating a mission type scenario would be perfect.

If people can complete the whole month I will be impressed, but I wanted to create something that meant participants can come and go, they can accept and complete a task one day and decide to have a day off if they are too busy the next.

How it works…
There is no official preview of what the month will involve but each night a task is given to the styling agents {this is YOU} for the next day. I will upload a task memo to instagram, twitter, Facebook and the blog with a theme for the next day. I know this is not a lot of time but that’s the point. I liked the idea of having limited time to think of what to wear, what to style or which look to flaunt, I love when people THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.

What to expect?
To have fun – my passion is fashion and beauty, I love to style outfits and share them with others who enjoy the same. Expect the unexpected – some days may have two aspects to a theme, or involve imitating someone’s style, expect to push the boundaries. You will need to think outside the box, I am hoping people won’t feel they have to buy something for the Mission … if you don’t have something for a theme… could you dress the opposite? Or maybe that’s the task day you will have off.

Who’s involved?
A growing number of instagram fashionistas – head there to see the majority of the action!
Everyone involved becomes what I like to call a ‘Styling Agent’ {every week I will pick a “Super Special Styling Agent”, someone who has blown me away with their Mission completions!}

How do you share and make sure For the Style Seeking Girl sees your pics?
Upload to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or comment with a link to your picture.

If you share on any mediums where hashtags are used, tag #forthestyleseekinggirl
Tag @saregiak on Instagram or @sarahgiak / @styleseekgirl on twitter
for Facebook share on the For the Style Seeking Girl Facebook Page

The Brief:

The theme doesn’t have to take over your whole outfit if you do not want it to- maybe you could incorporate it in a small way… to be considered as completed you just need to have some aspect of your look influenced by the prompt. Upload a photo each day and tag as in the brief as well as in the ‘how to share’ section.

Do I have to complete each day?
Not at all. Bonus points if you do! But just have fun and choose the tasks you wish to complete. I encourage you to attempt the ones that push you to be a bit more creative – they are fun and exciting!

Can I catch up if I want to?
Of course! I know what it is like to be busy… please do catch up if you have missed a day or found out about a task late… I will still consider that completed!

Day One

Rock a pair of earrings, wear studs that adorn your clothes or accessories… be seen! Make an impact!

Day Two

Wear the colour that makes you happy, the colour you love yourself sick in! Note; this may not be the colour people always comment on you in.. this theme is all about YOU.

Hope you enjoy your mission, until next time…

People’s Choice for March Style Dare

Last night I posted the final wrap up for Fox in Flats’ March style dare (read my introduction to the madness here), for another month I had styled an outfit or look by taking inspiration from the allocated prompt and posting to various facebook/instagram/twitter feeds. The community feel of following and looking at all the shots posted each day (using #foxinflatsstyledare) is fantastic and I am eagerly playing along again for April!

This month I decided to allocate a ‘People’s Choice’ for each week, to determine this I have chosen which one of my shots got the most likes/comments over the others … see the chosen ones below! I have also included my favourite for each week…

Week One:

People’s Choice: Day Four – French

For the Style Seeking Girl’s Choice: Day One – Grr!

I found these two shots fun to do, but there was something so fun about Day One … maybe the anticipation of the styledare days ahead? If you haven’t, read March’s Week One Wrap Up

Week Two:

People’s Choice: Day Eleven – Pointy

For the Style Seeking Girl’s Choice: Day Fourteen – Madonna

I love the clutch and teamed it perfectly with my metallic manicure but looking at a photo of Madonna (my choice of photo) and recreating the look was so much fun and a styling obsessive’s dream! I am planning on doing some recreation looks and then posts later this month due to this dare. Sneak a look at March’s Week Two Wrap Up

Week Three:

People’s Choice: Day Twenty – Got the Blues

For the Style Seeking Girl’s Choice: Day Twenty Two – Braid

This was a hard choice. I think Day Twenty was my favourite overall but I had to include the braid day because I had been attempting to complete this hairstyle for awhile and finally completed it! So happy! Day Twenty was a happy day for me – my Mum’s birthday and the sun was shining, my shirt holds New York memories and I could finally wear a topknot again (after chopping my hair off)! For more pics and a wrap up see my post on March Week Three

Week Four:

People’s Choice and For the Style Seeking Girl’s Choice: Day Twenty Five – Silver

I love this look and so did majority of everyone else! Paired with fresh makeup including made up but not heavy eyes and pale red lips I felt beautiful, confident and stylish. Plus just have to pair with a jacket for overseas and then I am all set to go! I also just love how the matte (top) and shiny (necklace) silver pieces work together … Don’t forget to look at March’s Week Four Wrap Up

Are you joining in the fun for April? Make sure to share to instagram or let me know where to view your shots – it is so much fun to be part of a stylish and unique community which supports and motivates each other to be confident and step outside the box! You don’t need to buy anything, the idea is to ‘shop within your wardrobe’ … don’t forget to use hashtag: #foxinflatsstyledare

Once again, here is the list of April prompts:

March Style Madness Week One

Loving this month’s style challenge from Fox in Flats … so much fun looking up the prompt each morning and styling an outfit or look. Here is the list for March – so many awesome prompts!

Love and looked forward to the following prompts in particular: Grr!, French, The Talking T, Madonna, Rock Chic, Bed Head, Black Beauty and My Mini Me…

Fox in Flats is the go-to place for style tips and tricks, created to help mothers stay and feel stylish despite time restrictions and sleep deprivation. I love this site and the fresh, fun and chic way Andrea conveys ideas and inspires others – what a role model! I am not a mother (and will be borrowing my adorable 9 year old cousin Isabella for prompt 30 – I call her my mini-me anyway) but find this site amazing – especially due to the long hours and shift work that are involved in my job.

Here are my pics which I uploaded to instagram (which are also shared in my twitter and facebook accounts) for Week One: 1st March – 7th March…

Day One – Grr!

Grr… pale pink leopard print top with a claw to show off the new matte bronze glitter manicure I had just got that afternoon! Always love some leopard print but aimed to wear something a little different.

Day Two – Black & White

A black and white polka dot no sleeve blouse worn open over a black shirt…

Day Three – Combat

Such a fun prompt! I wore my khaki jeans, a black singlet top with a white cheescloth type shirt worn open over the top. Paired with a brown military style jacket and my much-loved leopard print military style ballet flats. Attention to make up and hair takes this outfit from dress up to brunch appropriate!

Day Four – French

French, French, Frenchie! I aimed for the classic French style of minimalism. French women are so classic because they use simple fashion letting their natural beauty speak for itself.
To create this look, I used a striped shirt (light pink to stray away from the usual white and black), hair simply pinned back, pearl earrings and winged eyes (inspired by Bridgette Bardot). Then decided to add some red lips for a bit of a kick. Cannot wait to travel to Paris in May!

Day Five – Cuff ’em

I absolutley love a good cuff! This is one of my favourites, a silver linked cuff

Day Six – Twist & Pin

I pinned the front of my hair back into a quiff, then sectioned the remaining hair and twisted into knots fastening with bobby pins. It was a super hot day (37 degrees) and this style was a perfect way to beat flat or frizzy hair. It also reminded me of how my Mum used to do my hair when I was young. I was also super pleased when the lovely Christina from Hair Romance added my shot to her wrap up of this day on instagram (@hairromance -go follow for amazing hair styles!)

Day Seven – Ruffle

Handkerchief ruffle bottomed dress from BooHoo UK check out the dress here.
Has a beautiful embellished neck, comfortable fit.

Are you taking part in the challenge? If so leave me a comment with where to find your pictures and I will have a look! Would love to see them. You can follow mine on instagram – @saregiak or just wait for my weekly updates here. Do you have a favourite shot from Week One?
