Today my brother and I woke up at 4am, picked up his friend + her Mum and attended the local Dawn Service for ANZAC Day.
A day for remembrance, thanks and gratitude for the Men + Women who have risked everything to protect our country and the freedom of our nation.
It is storming here today, during the service there was intense lightening and thunder.. which added to the poignancy of the ceremony. It was beautiful, moving and special. I loved standing there with over 100 fellow Australians as we listened to the readings, the ANZAC ode, bugle and singing our anthem ‘Advance Australia Fair’.
I hope all my fellow Aussies take some time out today to reflect on the efforts of not only our ex service men and women but our current ones as well.
Happy ANZAC Day, how are you spending today?
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
